Themes

The wealth of archaeological remains across Wales makes it possible to explore the stories of its inhabitants from the earliest times through to the present day. For thousands of years people have left clues from which we are able to develop an understanding of their lives.

The Royal Commission’s work throughout Wales creates a unique collection of records which are able to show, for example, how people once lived, worked, traded and worshipped, how transport developed and conflict affected their lives, what they did for recreation and how they dealt with death.
