The Royal Commission has for some time been experimenting with the delivery of Coflein information to mobile devices. Our first public trial was the Ruthin e-trail, and we continue to develop further e-trail projects for Blaenavon and Caerleon, but our long-term aim is to develop wireless delivery of Coflein information to mobile devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs, throughout Wales.
This ability to query Coflein data on the move wherever you are will make heritage information available to users when they need it the most – when they are outside looking at an archaeological site or historic building.
If you are able to access to the internet using a mobile phone or PDA then you may already be able to view Coflein pages. Using a PDA it is already possible to conduct text-based searches, and view the resulting site information and imagery, but we want to make using Coflein from a mobile device as easy as it is on a home computer.
As developments in the delivery of Coflein data to mobile devices come on-line, the Royal Commission will post information about them in the News section of the website.
