Heritage of Wales

The Royal Commission and the National Monuments Record of Wales produce and care for some of the best resources for exploring and understanding the heritage of Wales. This section of the web-site helps you to choose routes through this wealth of information, with the aid of galleries of photographs and drawings, ideas about places to visit, or introductions to particular themes, periods and places in Welsh history, from the age of the Neolithic farmers to the great building projects of the present day. There are all sorts of exciting reconstructions and models, aerial images and links to other resources. These are added to constantly and will cover everything from remains of Iron Age villages to medieval castles and monasteries, industrial structures and historic towns. Further information on individual archaeological features and historic buildings can be found on our online database Coflein
