Accessibility Statement

The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales aims to ensure that its website is accessible to the widest audience possible. It has endeavoured to comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and has taken account of Publicly Available Specification PAS78:2006 in the commissioning and production of the website.

Images

Alternative text is provided for all images used on the site. Those images derived from our archive include reference information which uniquely identifies the subject of the image including the following:
1. Name of the historic site.
2. Brief description of the image.
3. The year the photograph was taken.
4. A digital image reference number.
5. The site’s National Primary Record Number (NPRN)
This information can be used to make an enquiry about the historic site on the online database Coflein or to the National Monument Record Public Enquiry Service.

Access keys
Until there are universally accepted standards for the use of accesskeys, and they are consistently implemented across modern browsers and user agents, accesskeys are not used on the site.

All links are intended to be meaningful when read in isolation.

A site map is provided.

Text size can be changed using the relevant browser controls.

A text-only style sheet has been provided.

We have not used:

Images alone to convey information
Colour alone to convey information

The use of tables has been restricted to the delivery of tabular data.

Downloadable documents
We are aware that there are limits to accessibility in using downloadable documents and we have endeavoured to maximise their accessibility to screen reading software by tagging both the text and images and by marking up the text.
